  • 1 lb lean ground beef or ground turkey

  • 15 oz can tomato sauce

  • 15 oz can red beans, drained

  • 15 oz can chili beans, undrained

  • 2 tbsp chili powder (or 1 packet chili seasoning, to taste)

Optional:

  • 15 oz can diced tomatoes

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

Instructions:

  1. Brown Meat: Heat a large pot over medium heat. Add ground beef or turkey and cook until browned, stirring occasionally. Drain excess fat.

  2. Add Veggies (Optional): If using diced tomatoes and onion, add them to the pot. Cook for 3-5 minutes until softened.

  3. Add Beans & Sauce: Stir in tomato sauce, drained red beans, and undrained chili beans. Mix well.

  4. Season: Add chili powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.

  5. Simmer: Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes. Stir occasionally.

  6. Serve: Ladle into bowls. Top with shredded cheese, sour cream, or green onions if desired.

Tips:

  • Flavor Boost: Chili tastes even better the next day as flavors develop. Make extra for leftovers or freeze for later.

  • Spice Adjustment: Adjust chili powder or seasoning to suit your heat preference.

  • Customization: Add bell peppers, jalapeños, or corn for variety.
