Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 3/4 cup ketchup

  • 1/4 cup mustard

  • 3 tbsp brown sugar or coconut sugar

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

    To Serve:

    • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions:

  1. Brown Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until fully browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess grease.

  2. Mix Sauce: Reduce heat to low. Add ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet. Stir well to combine.

  3. Simmer: Let the mixture simmer for 5-10 minutes until flavors blend and sauce thickens slightly.

  4. Assemble Sandwiches: Toast hamburger buns if desired. Spoon meat mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, then cover with the top half.

Slow Cooker Method

  1. Add Ingredients: Place raw ground beef, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce directly into the slow cooker.

  2. Break Up the Beef: Use a spoon or spatula to break the beef into smaller chunks.

  3. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours. Stir occasionally and break up the meat as it cooks.

  4. Stir & Serve: Once fully cooked, stir well to combine, then serve on toasted hamburger buns.

Tip: If the mixture is too thin, leave the lid off for the last 30 minutes to thicken.

Tips:

  • Garnish Ideas: Add pickles, onions, or shredded cheese for extra flavor.

  • Make Ahead: The meat mixture can be made in advance and reheated for a quick meal. You can also freeze it.

  • Customize: Adjust sweetness or tanginess by varying the amount of brown sugar or mustard.
