Honey Garlic Shrimp
Prep Time: 10 minutes (plus optional marinating time)
Cook Time: 10-12 minutes
Total Time: 20-45 minutes (depending on marinating time)
Servings: 4-6 skewers (depending on shrimp size)
Calories & Macros per Serving: Varies based on portion size
Ingredients:
1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions:
Marinate the Shrimp (Optional for More Flavor)
In a bowl or resealable bag, whisk together honey, soy sauce, garlic powder, and olive oil until well combined.
Add the shrimp, tossing to coat evenly.
Cover and refrigerate for 15-30 minutes (optional but recommended for deeper flavor).
Stovetop Option:
Cook Shrimp: Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until pink and fully cooked.
Add Sauce (if not marinated): Stir in honey, soy sauce, and garlic powder. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring, until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the shrimp.
Grilling Option:
Prepare Shrimp: Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
If not marinating, toss shrimp with olive oil, honey, soy sauce, and garlic powder in a bowl until evenly coated.
If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 20-30 minutes to prevent burning.
Thread 4-7 shrimp per skewer, depending on shrimp size, leaving a little space between each for even cooking.
Grill: Place skewers on the grill and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until opaque, pink, and slightly caramelized.
How Many Skewers?
This recipe makes about 4-6 skewers, depending on shrimp size.
Shrimp per skewer:
Large shrimp (16-20 per lb): 4-5 shrimp per skewer
Medium shrimp (21-25 per lb): 5-6 shrimp per skewer
Small shrimp (26-30 per lb): 6-7 shrimp per skewer
Tips:
Marinate for More Flavor: Let shrimp sit in the marinade for 15-30 minutes for deeper taste.
Spicy Kick: Add ½ tsp red pepper flakes or 1 tsp sriracha to the marinade.
Crispy Grilled Texture: Brush shrimp with extra honey-soy mixture while grilling for added caramelization.
Serving Ideas: Pair with rice, noodles, roasted veggies, or inside tacos.
Shrimp Choice: Any type of shrimp works—fresh or frozen (thawed).
Wooden Skewers: If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 20-30 minutes before grilling to prevent burning.
