Sardines & Crackers

Ingredients

• 1 can sardines (3.5–4 oz, plain or flavored)
• 6–8 crackers
• Black pepper
• Lemon juice (optional)

Optional Add-Ons

• Avocado slices
• Cream cheese or cottage cheese
• Mustard
• Hot sauce
• Sliced cucumber
• Cherry tomatoes
• Fresh herbs (parsley, green onion)
• Chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Open the sardines.
    Open the can carefully.
    Drain slightly if needed, or keep the oil for more flavor.

  2. Optional: warm the sardines.
    Place a small pan over medium heat.
    Add sardines and heat for 2–3 minutes until warm.
    This improves texture and flavor.

  3. Prepare the crackers.
    Lay crackers on a plate or board.

  4. Assemble.
    Place sardines directly on top of each cracker.
    Break them into smaller pieces if needed.

  5. Add extras (optional).
    Add toppings like avocado, mustard, or a squeeze of lemon.

  6. Serve.
    Eat immediately while fresh.

Tips

• Flavored sardines (lemon, chili, tomato) are great.
• Warming them removes the “canned” feel.
• Great as a snack, quick lunch, or high-protein option.
